Important Information
                    for Pro-Life Pregnancy Centers

We appreciate the work of many wonderful crisis
pregnancy centers across the United States that have helped
to save countless unborn babies and provide support for women
                  dealing with unplanned pregnancies.

Many pregnancy centers provide compassionate care to women and
men dealing with all the issues surrounding an unplanned pregnancy.
Pregnancy centers educate them about the consequences and side
effects of abortion that many medical professionals will not
address. Many women do not realize that there are many wonderful
couples who would love to adopt newborn babies. Adoption is
the best choice for women who do not wish to keep their babies.
Many couples who are devastated that they are unable to have
children would be thrilled to adopt newborn babies.

Many pregnancy centers often offer the following services
                  at no charge:

                  - Free Ultrasound

                  - Counseling

                  - Initial supply of pre-natal vitamins

                  - Baby clothes and diapers (at some centers)

                  - Referrals for medical services

                  - Referrals for adoption services

We feel it is important to educate pregnancy
centers and pro-life groups about one issue that they may have
not given much thought to. It is important that we address the
fact that many women have concerns about modesty at prenatal
appointments and during childbirth. Many women do not want a
male doctor or nurse to be present for the birth of their baby.
Many people have the misconception that promiscuous
women do not care about modesty in medical settings. This is
not true because most young women especially in their 20s actually
prefer a female doctor. Since some of the women who come to
pregnancy crisis centers were raped or had relationships with
the men who got them pregnant turn very sour, they often feel
intimidated by male doctors. It is important that we
work to help those women find a sensitive female OB/GYN and
assist them to create birth plans to determine who should be
present for their childbirth. Young women are often unaware
about things that could happen during childbirth such as the
fact that some hospitals let medical students observe birth
and do unnecessary exams. It is wonderful that those women chose
to not abort their babies, and we need to work to make sure
their birthing experiences are as positive as possible.
                Pregnancy centers should consider their
referrals to medical services carefully and take the fact that
many women prefer a female doctor into consideration.
We understand that pregnancy centers prefer to refer women to
pro-life OB/GYNs who would support their choice to have the
babies. In some areas especially rural areas, there are not
enough pro-life female ob/gyns. Pregnancy centers could encourage
women with low risk pregnancies to consider home births or birthing
center with midwives. Many midwives are very sensitive to women’s
                  wishes for modesty & privacy.
Medical Patient Modesty had the privilege of
helping a sexual abuse survivor, Katherine to find another hospital
45 minutes away that could guarantee her that a female ob/gyn
would deliver her baby in case a midwife could not. Katherine
was so upset that her local hospital could not guarantee her
that a female ob/gyn would deliver her baby that she even considered
having an abortion because she could not accept a chance that
she might be forced to have a male doctor. Check out more details
about her story on the testimonials
                  page.
Check out steps you must take to ensure that
you have an all female ob/gyn team for the birth of your baby
                  on our article about modesty
                  during childbirth.
Some wonderful female pro-life OB/GYNs have
started all female practices in some areas of the US such as
Hickory, NC, Jackson, MS, and Memphis, TN. One good example
is a pro-life all female practice, East
Lakeland Associates OB/GYN in Jackson, MS that was started
by Dr. Beverly McMillian, a former abortionist. Check out Dr.
                  McMillian's
amazing testimony. She has worked with the pro-life movement
for many years. Unfortunately, many smaller towns have a limited
number of female ob/gyns. We need to work to change this.

How Can We Increase Pro-Life Female OB/GYNs and All Female Practices?

                  - Encourage pro-life high school and college
                    girls to consider becoming OB/GYNs.

                  - Encourage pro-life female medical students to consider becoming
                    OB/GYNs.

                  - Encourage pro-life female ob/gyn residents to consider starting
an all female ob/gyn practice in a town that does not have
                    an all female practice.

                  - Encourage pro-life female ob/gyns with small practices of
one or two doctors to expand their practices and hire more
female doctors so women can be guaranteed a female doctor
                    in emergencies.

                  - Encourage pro-life female ob/gyns in mixed practices that
have both male and female doctors to start a new all female
ob/gyn practice in the area and hire enough female doctors
that would guarantee a woman a female doctor in emergencies.

                  - Encourage pro-life female ob/gyns to mentor pro-life female
                    medical students and ob/gyn residents

                  - Encourage hospitals that cannot guarantee
a female ob/gyn in emergencies to recruit an all female practice
so at least one female ob/gyn would always be on call.
