We have
provided an online directory of hospitals where female cardiothoracic,
orthopedic, and spine surgeons practice for women. Often during
surgeries of the heart and lungs, women's breasts are exposed.
As well, certain hip and spine surgeries might require exposure
of the genitals unless special dignity garments are provided.
Finding a female general surgeon—one who would operate
on the gallbladder, appendix, etc.—are more readily available
and are not listed in this directory. Sometimes doctors
leave or move away so a doctor's availability could change.
Also, we cannot guarantee you that the surgeons listed
in this directory will agree with your wishes for modesty. You
will need to consult with the surgeon and ask questions regarding
modesty during surgery to determine if she is the right surgeon
for you.
Patients
undergoing hip surgery, cardiac catheterizations in the groin,
cardiac bypass surgery as well as other surgeries that require
access to the groin area are encouraged to check out the dignity
garments which cover the genitals invented by an orthopedic
surgeon at Covr Medical.
Female
patients undergoing shoulder surgery can wear a special bra
that would cover the breasts the whole time. Check out an example
of a disposable bra,
Modesty Bra that gives full access to your
shoulder.
Check out
Surgery and Your Modesty about
steps you will need to take to ensure that your wishes for modesty
during surgery are honored. Remember that a number of people
potentially an anesthesiologist or nurse anestheist, circulating
nurse, a number of nurses, and other medical professionals will
be present for your surgery so you will need to talk to the
hospital and your surgeon about your wishes for an all-same
gender team.
If you
see any outdated information or you would like for us to add
a surgeon that is not yet in the directory,

surgeon locator that allows you to search for surgeons
based on miles.
